Two Step Salsa celebrated Labor Day all across the country by hitting a three-bagger, Two Diamonds breaking her maiden at Gulfstream Park in Florida, Dancin Nicky winning at Canterbury Park in Minnesota and Two Step Dancer scoring at Remington Park in Oklahoma.
Racing 5 1/2 furlongs, Two Diamonds was off in the second flight under Reylu Gutierrez, swung five wide on the turn and closed stoutly, edging 3/5 shot Gracias Adios by a head. The 3-year-old filly's winner's check came to $10,400.
Dancin Nicky also competed at 5 1/2 furlongs, and had the disadvantage of the No. 10 post. The 3-year-old colt was off ninth, was forced to make a four-wide move on the turn, and also was up by a head at the wire. The Minnesota-bred has won two of his three starts.
Two Step Dancer also came from behind to win at Remington. The 3-year-old filly began a run on the backstretch in the mile and 70-yard test, went three-wide on the turn and finished strongly to win by a length. She's been first, second or third in five of her last six starts.
The trio of winners combined to vault Two Step Salsa over the $1.7 million mark in progeny earnings for 2018.
