Two Step Salsa has begun this season just as he finished 2017 - with winners, and proving again that the Two Steps are at home on all varieties of tracks. Two Step Temper became winner No. 1 of 2018, getting up at the wire to score by a nose going six furlongs over a track labeled "frozen" at Parx Racing. The 6-year-old hickory gelding was clocked in 1:10.46 and now sports a record of 7-5-6 in 44 starts. The $12,000 winner's check raised his earnings to $144,587, and he's won at four different tracks.
At Tampa Bay Downs, Salsamatic prevailed in a 7-furlong race over a sloppy track, sitting just off the pace with Manny Cruz, moving passing the quarter pole, surviving a bump at the eighth pole, and getting up by half a length at the wire. The 4-year-old Kentucky-bred colt had shown a fondness for the Tampa strip last season, posting three seconds and a third in four starts, and now has won both of his starts during three weeks of the current season. Two Step Salsa already has earnings of $34,821.
