The first seven days of July have been highly productive for Get Away Farm's two stallions, with the highlight coming yesterday at Belterra Park, where Drillit became the first stakes-placed runner for freshman sire Drill.
Drillit finished second under Terry Houghton as the 8/5 second choice in the $75,000 Hoover Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs. It was just the second start for the 2-year-old bred by Eric Heyman, the colt having won in his Thistledown debut by 8 1/4 lengths. The $15,000 check increased his earnings to $33,000.
Two Step Salsa's runners also continued to pile up progeny earnings yesterday, with 5-year-old Two Steps of Glory going wire-to-wire to win by 6 1/4 lengths at Assiniboia Downs and Kentucky-bred Warfront Salsa Rvf breaking her maiden by 3 1/2 lengths at Penn National at odds of 4/5.
Two Step Salsa now has 37 winners this year, along with ballooning earnings of $1,115,673. Since July 1, he has had five winners, all at different tracks
