Sharp Colt Gives Drill First Stakes-Placed Runner

The first seven days of July have been highly productive for Get Away Farm's two stallions, with the highlight coming yesterday at Belterra Park, where Drillit became the first stakes-placed runner for freshman sire Drill.

Drillit finished second under Terry Houghton as the 8/5 second choice in the $75,000 Hoover Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs. It was just the second start for the 2-year-old bred by Eric Heyman, the colt having won in his Thistledown debut by 8 1/4 lengths. The $15,000 check increased his earnings to $33,000.

Two Step Salsa's runners also continued to pile up progeny earnings yesterday, with 5-year-old Two Steps of Glory going wire-to-wire to win by 6 1/4 lengths at Assiniboia Downs and Kentucky-bred Warfront Salsa Rvf  breaking her maiden by 3 1/2 lengths at Penn National at odds of 4/5.

Two Step Salsa now has 37 winners this year, along with ballooning earnings of $1,115,673. Since July 1, he has had five winners, all at different tracks
