Samy Camacho never blinked aboard Salsa Jack when Something Bird opened up a three and four-length lead down the backstretch in a 1 1/16-mile test at Gulfstream Park yesterday. Camacho waited patiently, finally letting Salsa Jack run at the quarter pole. The 3-year-old gelding inhaled the pacesetter heading into the stretch, then coasted down the lane while widening his lead with every stride. The final margin over the sloppy surface was 8 3/4 lengths. Salsa Jack, the 8/5 favorite, earned a check for $19,100, raising his total to $67,928 on a record of 3-1-1 in eight starts, all of them coming this year.
