El Salsero, winner of Puerto Rico's Gr. I Clasico Luis Munoz Rivera Stakes back in July, remained unbeaten this week, scoring his fifth straight victory at Camarero Race Track. The 2-year-old colt by Two Step Salsa hadn't started since Sept. 15, but still turned in a strong performance under Edwin Castro, winning by 2 1/4 lengths while racing six furlongs over a sloppy track. El Salsero has taken his five races by a combined total of 29 1/4 lengths and earned $75,122 in the process, despite the low purse structure in Puerto Rico. Two Step Salsa heads into the final two days of racing in 2017 with progeny earnings of $1,895,425.
