Drill moved into third place on the Florida freshman sire list when Destiny Over Fate broke her maiden in her career debut at Laurel Park yesterday. The filly bred in Maryland by Best A Luck Farm was working well for her first try under Alex Cintron and was sent off at 8/5 in the five-furlong race. She sat second early before moving wide for the drive, and won by 2 1/4 lengths despite bearing out to mid-track in the stretch. Destiny Over Fate became winner No. 3 for Drill and collected a check for $24,453, raising her sire's earnings to $81,763.
At Gulfstream Park, Two Step Salsa added another name to his growing list of $100,000-plus earners when Two Step Blues went wire-to-wire in a one-mile race on the grass with Emisael Jaramillo in the irons. The 4-year-old filly, a $9,500 OBS Winter Mixed purchase in 2015, overcame a leap over a tire track in deep stretch and went on to score by one-half length in 1:36.04. She became winner No. 39 for her sire this year and the $14,700 check bumped her total to $101,980 on a record of 2-8-1 in 19 starts.
